Source material and trustworthiness

Even before the work of registration began we placed high demands on the trustworthiness of the sources. In order to avoid the loss of important information it was not enough that the material was registered exactly as in the original. This also placed demands on the registration forms. Kaare A. Andersen has developed trustworthy form in co-operation with the affected institutions. As an example we can mention the registration of unattached artefacts. This form was developed in co-operation with the Artefact Collection at the University Oslo.

The form for place names was developed in co-operation with the Department for Name Research at the university..

We are aware that our high demands for trustworthiness of the source material can limit the computer use of the sources. Codifying and standardisation of the sources, we believe, should only be done on a copy of the original after the material has been registered.
