Foss Sundly heirlooms

The detail is not very good. There is one of the spoons coming in the mail, but these are about the same. The detail is not clear, since it is quite worn from the metal. The smaller sugar spoon has a single "F" on it in a scrolling pattern. The larger serving spoon has "CF" in a very intricate scrolling pattern. However, the photos did not pick up much detail. I am sorry for this.

A special note about the sugar spoon: My grandfather, Ole Sundly (Louisa's husband), would sit at the kitchen table each morning and with his cup of coffee on a saucer, he would fill the spoon with sugar, dip it into the coffee and then eat the sugar off the spoon. He would then pour coffee into the saucer and sip the coffee from the saucer. This was his "ritual" every morning, and I can still see him doing this! I think this is where I developed the trait of being able to eat sugar right off a spoon!

The jewelry is a stick pin with an amythest stone and a pearl in the "crown" at the top of the pin. The two sets of cuff links are Louisa Foss' husband's which he wore every Sunday to church, one pair or the other. The larger pair has mother-of-pearl in the center and the outer edge has detailed scrolling. The pair with the brilliant stone (I do not think they are diamonds; I've not had them evaluated.) setting is the oldest of the pairs. I wish I had his spats, which he wore to church as well. They were gray, and covered the center part of each shoe! He was quite the dapper gentleman!!
