Pargas svenska gymnasium (PSG) är sedan 1973 ett fristående kommunalt gymnasium. Före det var gymnasiet en del av samskolan som grundades 1910. Byggnaden som skolan nu verkar i byggdes år 1977 och hade då 137 elever. Idag går det 207 elever i skolan. Läsåret indelas i 6 perioder som är ungefär 6 veckor långa. I varje period läser man fem ämnen och därtill eventuella tillvalsämnen som t.ex gymnastik och musik. I Pargas har vi ett projekt mellan gymnasiet och yrkesskolorna som gör det möjligt för gymnasie eleverna att ta kurser i yrkesämnen, samt för yrkesskolornas elever att skriva studentexamensproven i vissa ämnen. I år blev 71 elever studenter. Since 1973 Pargas Swedish upper secondary school is a self-contained municipal upper secondary school. Before that the school was a part of the co-educational school that was established in 1910. A new school was built in 1977 at that time it had 137 students. Today 207 students are studying at this school. The school year is divided into six periods which are about six weeks long.In each period we study five subjects and some optional subjects like sports and music. In Pargas there is some co-operation between the upper secondary school and the vocational schools, which makes it possible for students to choose courses from other schools. This year 71 students graduated from Pargas upper secondary school.




PARGAS




Pargas är en gammal skärgårdsstad omgiven av vatten. I Pargas finns en gammal gråstenskyrka från 1300-talet som är omgiven av Gamla Malmen, den äldsta stadsdelen i Pargas. På sommaren lever staden upp genom de många evenemangen som ordnas. I början av juni ordnas Pargasdagarna som är en stor marknad med varierande program. Det största evenemanget under sommaren är Rowlit in the city som är en vida känd festival. Alldeles intill stadens centrum finns Nordens största kalkstensdagbrott.

Andra sevärdheter är Fredrikastugan där Finlands nationalskalds, Runebergs, fru, Fredrika Tengström, bott som ung. Även Qvidja slott är sevärt, slottet är uppfört på 1400-talet.

I Pargas finns goda möjligheter till fritidsaktiviteter, bl.a. golf och segling. Även pargaspepparkakan,som exporteras bl.a. till Tyskland, bör omnämnas.		 Pargas is an old arcipelagotown surrounded by water. In Pargas there is an old church of granite from the 14th century, which is surrounded by the old town.

In the summer the city is full of life because of the many events that are arranged. In the beginning of June the Days of Pargas, Pargasdagarna, are arranged. Pargasdagarna is a big market with varying program. The largest event is Rowlit in the City which is a well-known festival. Near the centre of the city is the largest limestone mine in Scandinavia.

Another thing worth seeing is Fredrikastugan, a cottage where the national poet Runeberg´s wife lived when she was young. Also the castle of Qvidja, built in the 15th century, is worth a visit. In Pargas there are good possibilities to sparetime activities such as golf and sailing. The gingerbread from Pargas, Pargas pepparkakor, are also well-known (and they taste good too!!).
